The Other Den

Last night we dined at the Izakaya Den (owned by and located across the street from Sushi Den). It was fabulous. You can order the exact same sushi as is served across the street, and they serve additional contemporary meal options as well.
Here’s what I recommend if you go there:

This year, you should seriously consider purchasing cedar planks to enhance the flavor of your grilled dishes. [...]

Frasca: food and wine pairing heaven

April 29th, 2008 · 4 Comments · Dinner

On my birthday a couple of days ago, I had the heavenly experience of dining at Frasca in Boulder, an Italian “neighborhood” restaurant inspired by the farms and fields of Friuli-Venezia in northeast Italy.
We started with appetizers (a selection of house-cured meats and Frico Caldo — described coarsely but aptly as “hash browns on crack” [...]

Spring Parmesan Chicken

April 27th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Dinner, Food, Gluten-free, Healthy, Recipe, Soy-free, Wheat-free

Most dishes I make are gluten-free and contain less than 10 ingredients. As a designer I typically believe that less is more and I believe that approach may also apply to food. I try to always pair a wine that I really feel goes best with the dish so that if you are entertaining or [...]

Taste of Sushi Den

April 23rd, 2008 · 1 Comment · Dinner, Food, Gluten-free, Local, Review

Last night I treated some new friends from LA to one of Denver’s finest restaurants, Sushi Den. We dined on spicy firecracker rolls and Bincho (seared tuna) accompanied by chilled sweet plum wine and ice cold Kirin. Our tuna appetizer was drenched with a light and tasty Ponzu-like sauce — yum! Nat & Rob suggested [...]

One of our favorite recipes during the cooler months is my roasted new potatoes recipe. It’s simple, healthy and can be prepared quickly and best of all, everybody loves it. I serve this as a side dish to grilled cherry-chipotle chicken breasts and fresh from the garden steamed asparagus.
Roasted New Potatoes
1lb small red potatoes (may [...]
